Blurb: 'Joclyn is in hiding, hunted by the man she still desperately loves. Ryland is gone, his mind erased; no memory of Joclyn remains, but Joclyn's heart desperately begs her to hold out hope. Meanwhile the black-eyed monster that possesses him attempts to kill her over and over again.

If it wasn't for Ilyan, Joclyn would be dead by now.

Ilyan, the man who once stalked her, is now Joclyn's protector, the only person she has left. He protects Joclyn from the men who seek to end her life, and all the while, she is haunted by dreams where Ryland begs her to break the bond between them.

Ilyan is there. Always there.

Ilyan trains and prepares her, teaching her everything she needs to know in the hope that one day she can avenge Ryland, if not protect herself from him.

And then, there is her father.

The man who has never been there is suddenly responsible for everything. And who he is has made Joclyn into something she never wanted to be:

The Silnỳ.'

Plot: The plot of this book follows Joclyn and Ilyan after the events of the LaRue mansion at the end of the last book. Boy am I hooked on these two by the by. I want them to stay together ALL THE TIME. At the start of this book, Joclyn's having a bit of a breakdown, both mentally and physically. Guess who's there to comfort her??? King Freaking Ilyan. I love him. The breaking of Ryland's connection to her is slowly killing her. The only way she can stop it is to visit the child Ryland in the Touha. The Touha and the waking world are the only places that are safe anymore for her as she's tormented nightly in her dreams. Edmund, Cail and even Ryland visit her every night in her dreams to torture and kill her, in order to 'break' her before she can become what has been foreseen. The one who will save the earth's magic. The Silnỳ.

Likes: Very rarely do I come across a book that convinces me to change my book boyfriend mid-series. In the first book I was one hundred and ten percent team Ryland. In the second book, after seeing all the things he did to Joclyn (I know it wasn't really him guys!) I just can't look at him the same way. Also I've absolutely fallen for Ilyan. He was just so kind, thoughtful, brave, strong, amazing, awesome, handsome, lovely. Shall I continue?? I can't get over the fact that I was team Ryland and now I'm firmly team Ilyan.

Also I loved the fact that Joclyn is so much more badass in this book. She really came into herself in this book. She dropped a freaking air conditioner unit on Ryland for feck's sake! Oops spoiler? Seriously she's being tormented in her nightmares, her own body's killing her and her boyf is trying to kill her. And yet she doesn't try to 'jump ship' (as my mother would say) and kill herself. She's so strong. Great role model :D

Dislikes: Not really a dislike for this book, but more of query for the next book, I don't understand why the next book, has Wyn's POV. In my head it just doesn't make sense.

Verdict:  Loved it! 9/10. Scorched Treachery here I come! (Book #3)

Fave Quote: "I may have power but I do not have strength."

Book Trailer: For book one!
